The most fashionable week of the year, NYFW 2014 is officially half over, and in it’s wake; hundreds of trends, dozens of parties, ice cream cone pasties, and of course, actual fashion. There are style makers and those who are, what I call TTH, Trying to hard. This usually applies to a person wearing 3 trends at one time or more on their person. But, where I critique, I also praise, and there were some pretty amazing style mavens moving their way through the island of Manhattan this weekend. This NYFW 2014 first weekend was more fun then usual because I had a friend by my side to do it all with. Although the weekend, and her stay has ended, fashion week continues on until Thursday, and so must I.
Saturday, Sept 6 12 pm – Amir Taghi SS15 Show
Pastel shades of blue, purple, grey and cream hit the runway at the Helen Mills space on Saturday afternoon. It was a scorching Saturday. One of the hottest NYFW’s I can remember. Yet, despite the hot sun soaking down upon all us stylistas, we managed to cool down to an array of cool shades gliding in front of us. More on this show to come shortly.
4 pm- Empire Hotel Rooftop, Reward Style party.
I loved the look of the Zinke booth, which was giving away a fun gift, a free bathing suit to their bloggers! I can’t wait to go through the look book.
Me and my girl, Style Fragment playing around at the Reward Style photo booth. She said this word bubble was perfect for me, and I had to agree.
7 pm – Met Museum, Roof Garden Commission & Garry Winogrand Exhibit.
Garry Winogrand Photography exhibit.
Not only was the rooftop commission garden an evening treat, but on our way back through the Met, I decided to see if there were any shows that might peak our interest. I was so excited to run smack dab into Garry Winogrand; an exhibition honoring his photography of 60’s Manhattan. There were some amazing photos, and even more appropriately, a section of photography dedicated to the state of Texas as well. So two bloggers worlds collided not only in fashion week, but in art.
