The theme of 2015 for me is growing up. That means upgrading my life in all aspects, some material driven, and others more symbolic. It means following through on life goals, but also having pajamas that match. Learning how to let go of the little things, and having a grown up duvet and blanket, because after all, sleep in your thirties is an important luxury.
To me growing up isn’t a tangible or concrete thing. Its not something I would necessarily be able to define with ease, if asked to do so. Remember when Winona Ryder was asked by Ben Stiller’s mom in Reality Bites to define irony? Her still relevant response was, … well I know it when I see it. And that’s how I feel about adulthood. Even though I’m 34 years old, I don’t think I could define the word if asked. But I can tell you, I’ll definitely know it when I see it. In that vein, to start off the new year and this new found search to define a word, Style Island is featuring a special ‘Upgrade You’ bi-monthly series this winter. Twice a month we’ll feature a new way to upgrade your life, from the small details like your bedding, to how you cleanse your skin at night, and schedule your weekly goals.
First up in the series, the way you plan your day. This is an act I for one, have always taken very seriously. I am obsessive about my list making; spending as much time writing out my goals as I do working on them. I revel in getting things done, and as a writer and blogger, calendar maintenance is imperative. My planner of choice for many years has been my beloved Kate Spade but this year, I discovered a new brand that is already changing the way I look at my day, week and month ahead. The Day Designer, the brainchild of Whitney English is for the obsessively organized at heart. And I thought I was the only one…..
My mornings start with a cup of coffee, an Apple, not the kind you eat, and my Day Designer, where I will map out my day ahead.
The first thing I do with every new planner for the year is write down my name. Old habits die hard.
Writing out my lists for the Day.
Every day features 2 sections; the left side consisting of the days events/times, and the right side, another section for other to-do lists. Other awesome details include things like daily $ spent, and mapping out the night’s dinner. The planner, which has both monthly macro, and daily micro sections makes it easy to plan out everything from daily chores to monthly objectives.
Buy your day designer here for $59.00
