Well, we’re officially in the final week of March; the month that goes in like a lion, and out like a lamb, and so far, I’ve heard more roars than baahs. We are all sitting on pins and needles, waiting for the season to finally hit, and I have a feeling that once it’s here it’s not going to last very long. New York City is notorious for extremes in more ways then one, especially when it comes to those seasons. I’ve lived here my whole life and I’ve seen it almost 70 degrees in February, to this years never ending winter woes. It can jump from 50 to 75 degrees in a matter of days, and many times complete seasons are here for an instant.
But not this time. This time, spring’s nonchalant arrival will have everyone singing to the birds, reveling to the ice coffee gods, and prematurely rocking the sandals. Even though it’s been a rough few weeks, I can still see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I know good times are ahead for all of us. Spring is just around the corner in fact, even if we can’t wrap our heads around that notion.
This week, I don’t know if it was just that wishful thinking, or the impending change, but everywhere I looked, I saw art that screamed spring! Prospects of a new day, a new love, and a new season that brings with it new possibilities.
I’m a very supportive girlfriend to my amazing partner, but completely separate from that, I’m also a lover of art with a hint of something special on the side. That is everything that this amazing artist does! As a collagist, he turns random scraps, and magazine pages into masterpieces. Check out his work atSociety6.com. And scoop up this print to hang on your wall, because if this doesn’t get you in the mood for spring, I don’t know what will!
Etsy is one of the absolute BEST places to find unique, one of a kind things from all different designers, no matter what you’re looking for. Jewelry, apparel, home goods, art, the site has everything, all touting individual creativity. This chalkboard style print is easter themed but I love it in a kitchen or bathroom for summertime. $24, for an 8×10 print at Etsy
Prints of phrases and quotes seem to be everywhere these days, and though I haven’t fully given into the idea yet, I’m totally obsessed with some of them, and can imagine how great they would look propped up somewhere in my apartment. I love the simplicity of this one, from the look to the sentiment. Available at Etsy, $25 for a 11.7 x 16.5 print.
