1.Jack’s 99 Cent Shop.A mecca of JUNK, perpetuating my tradition of being a contradictory quirk by nature. A girl who spends $700 on a Balenciaga dress, and then goes across town to buy toothpaste for a dollar. I love buying nice things. I also love getting good deals; not just on shoes, but on normal things, like salad dressing, and q-tips. Does this make me weird? No, it makes me a 30 something fashionista, professional on this island of survival. I think back, and quote often a line from Sex and the City, in which Carrie comes to a realization and exclaims,”I spent $40,000 on shoes, and I just charged broccoli?” This quote sums up my existence… and yet, I will go on, foraging for meat, and sticks for the fire…. I mean Chanel Shoes, and generic brand cheese…..
2. On that same theme, the Show Extreme Couponing, on TLC is one of those things that is insane, and yet awe inspiring at the same time. I couldn’t stop watching it. Maybe I should introduce them to Jacks 99 cent world.
3. Summer nights at Shake Shack. The christmas lights, the ridiculously long line down the block, which depending on your mood, your company, and the weather can either be warranted, or not, the shrum burger with fries and a black and white shake, the stranger’s dog’s nipping at your toes, and the beating of a small device that buzzes, letting you know you are moments from putting something really tasty in your mouth. Yes, you are in the middle of Madison Square Park, at Shake Shack. One of my favorite summer stomping grounds, and an obsession this week in particular. Shrooming never tasted so good!!
4. The Tempura String beans at Wined UP.
5. My J Crew Sparkly necklace that I bought at the sample sale last week. The perfect accent to almost any outfit, and my extra something special accessory a few times this week… At $35, it was a perfect purchase…
