Have you ever come across an old picture that influenced or changed the way you look at style? Since I was little there are small details that, to me, signify a standard of personal style and sophistication. I can trace all these details back to pictures of my mother through the decades. They illustrate an extraordinary story about someone with the ultimate style gene. One picture in particular I still look to today, as my classic, holy grail, where my mom attended a family wedding and stood out with just two simple details. A black wrap dress pinned at the side with a giant gardenia and completed with subtle, red lips and eye-brushing bangs. At that moment, two things would forever define style to me; gardenias and red lipstick. Later, at my own high school graduation, I would, (certainly not as well) emulate the look. Now at 34, the picture still stands out in my mind every time I get dressed and when I go out, the first thing I always decide upon is red lips. Today, that means my go-to Chanel Rouge Allure gloss, which I received courtesy of People Style Watch as one of their top #stylehunters. The gloss, appropriately named Seduction is a vibrant red, that packs the punch of a lipstick, with the subtle softness of a gloss. It’s perfect for the holidays, but versatile enough to be worn casually without being too over the top. It’s proof that sometimes, one classic is all you need to make your mark during the holidays, or any time of year.
