Holidays in New York City can be magical, whether you call the island home, or are just stopping by to visit. Even for skeptics, its hard to deny the power of the city during the month of December. Slithering in like a snake, it takes hold of us. Holiday windows are formed, light shows begin and massive tree displays take over. Before we all know it, the entire holiday spirit has enveloped us, taking form in various ways. The only thing left to do is embrace it, like the snake charmer you are.
This holiday, I finally got a chance to partake in some long desired seasonal traditions, including a long awaited trip to Dyker Heights. But among the many holiday rituals that remain throughout the bustling island; a visit to the tree, ice skating at Central Park, there also lies a whole borage of new, soon-to-be-tradition activities. Including a light show at Brookfield place, entitled Luminaries which could easily go from one time holiday experience to yearly Brookfield ritual. This season, lets embrace the old and wonderful, as well as the new and exciting. That is after all, what a new year is all about….
