One of my strongest childhood memories is sitting down to dinner with my mom during the week while the record player played Broadway tunes in the background. Roasted chicken over the sounds of Evita, pasta as Cabaret roared in the background. I grew up to not only associate dinner with music, but music with records. Today, as a grown woman planning my own weeknight meals, I don’t cook to music as often I would like. Truth be told, most times that we sit down to eat or make dinner, there’s tv on in the background, not the faint sounds of an old record.
