Permanent Vacation~ Pack Well & Prosper! Top Five Vacations with Essentials for Your Suitcase

Mark Twain said, “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

With warm weather, ice coffee, open toed shoes, and no jacket outings so close we can taste it, it got me thinking about what we covet most about the warmer season. What is it about spring, that one little change in temperature that can change a whole island’s demeanor…

Maybe it’s that everyone is finally re approaching society; to mingle, mix, eat outdoors, walk around in work out gear, and of course, plan what will go on their respective calendars once the season officially changes. For many, including myself, nothing soothes the spring and summer soul like a vacation. A vacation is not relegated to this season, but for some reason it makes it more exciting. Theres a million opportunities, a million destinations, and you and your bank account hold the key.

A vacation can change you; it can make you feel something; and it can define a moment in time.

So as the season approaches, and visions of Expedia dance in my head, here are my top 5 five Vacations that you need to go on this year, with their corresponding suitcases. I remember my spring break days in Cancun, partying in the sun, not a care in the world. I see how much things have changed, and it scares the hell out of me, but hey, party girls deserve a vacation too, so they still get a nod. I used to take trips with my girlfriends to the beach, but nothing tops our own private pool in Mexico with my boyfriend this past summer. Sometimes when it’s less about partying, and more about relaxing, de-stressing, and sipping Umbrella cocktails, you just need to find a beach escape.

Nantucket is all about preppy chic, a lifestyle that is at least fun to emulate for a weekend, if you dont live it, and nothing beats a fun ride out on the ferry. And then there’s the music festivals. I finally get to go to my first one later this month, when I  go to NOLA to see Jazz Fest.I’ve travelled all over the world; in fact nothing makes me happier then an international jaunt with the tchotchkes to prove it. And every summer for as long as I can remember, I find 10 days, I find a location, I find a travel buddy, and I find a way.

I think back again to that Mark Twain quote, and what it means to those who read it.  I seem to use it as either a rationalization, or explanation for why my bank account is small but my passport is filled. I go on a trip and I find a new part of myself, a new journey, a new friend, and a new travel partner. These days, I continue to travel, and though my search for the journey continues, my search for the travel partner does not. I found one for life; the stamp to my proverbial passport.
