I was initially late to the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel when it debuted in 2018. It was a time when I didn’t even have Amazon Prime yet. Of course, the entire world has changed since then – my television habits – among many other things have changed drastically. And I’m now also into the Maisel universe. The fourth season is currently streaming. But you can fully absorb yourself back into the beginning of the story on the Mrs Maisel NYC tour.
The ninety minute tour covers multiple neighborhoods, and transports fans into her world, including notable show locations, and iconic storefronts from the first season. All while being driven around in a 1957 Chevy.
On Location always wants people to feel like part of the story on all their TV show tours. This includes, not just visits to special spots, but a personal guide (slash passionate actor) that evokes the vibe, and provides interesting information and set details. You must be willing to lean into the fun with this, otherwise there’s really no point to this activity. But if you can, you’ll have a great time.
what you’ll see on the Mrs Maisel NYC tour:
Old Town bar.
A mainstay of the neighborhood since 1892. Also Joel’s favorite neighborhood bar, where he gets drinks with best friend Archie in season one.
West Village old school favorite, La Bonbirerrie diner where the smell of bacons wafts from the street.

The diner is recreated on the show as where Midge and Joel had their first date – illustrated through flashbacks. Pre Covid I really enjoyed brunch at the counter for a fully authentic experience.
The world famous Music Inn. This New York City establishment is the oldest running music shop since 1958. Since then, it’s been a home for musicians, artists, and one fictional, aspiring comic in particular – It all leads back to Music Inn, where Susie first Midge to hear some of the comedy greats.
cappuccinos at throwback Caffe Reggio.
Lutzi’s Butcher shop. In actuality, that’s not the name and an Albanese Meats and Poultry faded sign remains. But the favorite, local Butcher shop has been around since the 50’s and it’s prominent feature on Mrs. Maisel is giving it a whole new life.
McSorleys – the oldest bar in New York City. On the show, it serves as a different location – The Cedar Tavern – where Midge goes on a date with Ben in season two. In reality, its a slice of old school with a rich history.
Time to pull yourself back into reality. But it’s nice to know we can always turn on the TV and re emerge into a fun, escapist world.
