The stage had been set. Last Friday night the 12.12.12. concert equivalent for kids; the annual Z100 Jingle Ball was set to go on at Madison Square Garden, hosting the likes of Bieber, One Direction, Taylor Swift, the Wanted, and many more in a stage studded event that would create cheers, tears, and more, including a lot of broken curfews.
Earlier that day; a pre-event at the Hammerstein Ballroom filled with star sets, sponsors, and ticket giveaways brought out hundreds upon hundreds of teens, tweens, and those who accompanied them. In other words, parents. And as the parents let go of hands, set rules, and in many cases left to let the fans run free, Hammerstein became abuzz with celebration. This was one party in which everyone was on the guest list.
As Z100 dj’s held dance-offs, and gave away tickets to the evening’s anticipated show while singers performed, in the Duane Reade Lounge a different kind of preparation was taking place.
To help celebrate the day, and prepare for the night, Duane Reade, one of the event’s biggest sponsors had taken over a section of the Ballroom. A destination for beautifying, the lounge hosted Impress Nails and ConAir, as well as reps from popular products lines on hand to give out samples. Appointments were taken for quick no fuss manicures by the ladies of Impress Nails and in the Conair section, girls twirled, curled and straightened away. A photo booth, courtesy of Conair allowed for everyone to show off their new hair dos, and after my ImPress press on mani, I did get silly infront of the camera.
After all, the day was all about being uninhibited, and having a good time just living in the moment, which is exactly what we all did. Sometimes, Music, getting Made Up, and Mayhem really can cure all. And although I had managed to feel my age all day long, I finally realized age is just a state of mind. But youthfulness is forever.
