This Valentines day, people will celebrate love, while others will completely ignore it all together, declaring this month a ‘pr-driven’ fest. And lets be honest, it kind of is, but so what?? The world tells women they always have a choice. A choice to not have that baby, or a choice to say yes ‘I’ll go home with you’. But when it comes to this holiday, suddenly women supporting choices and each other seems to momentarily dissipate. Some relish in the newly minted ‘Galentines Day’ making sure to fill the evening with friends, and lamenting on all the couple-ish things they could be doing, while bashing those actually doing them. Singles get annoyed by couples, couples plead blissful ignorance, and those who spend the evening alone have to deal with the masses telling them ‘it will be ok’. In actuality, those spending Valentines day at home are giving it its greatest validity. The day is supposedly about love, and what love is more pure than the one we have for ourselves.
The Buddha said, ” You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” So if you’re spending Valentines Day at home this weekend, either alone or otherwise, first off, awesome! Now, go give yourself exactly what you deserve.
