I LOVE NEW YORK

Fashion week is reaching it’s peak, I’ve been busy, have images to download, collections to write about, and thoughts to wax poetic on.

But today, I’m not going to do anything.

Today is not about that. Today is about honoring a tragedy and historic moment in America, but more specifically, my beloved island of New York City.

And with that I wish everyone a peaceful day. Treat people kindly, call your loved ones, and be generous.

This blog was created, not only as an outlet for fashion, style, trends, thoughts, etc, but an homage to the island of New York City, that I have loved and loathed and whose all surrounding waters are the only home I have ever really known.

With that, I leave you with another homage to this island; the city you can’t live with, can’t live without. An excerpt from Here Is New York, an amazing piece of literature from E.B. White, and one of the best accounts of New York City on paper ever. I will feature more on this book in upcoming stories, as it resonates for today’s time, and for me in a multitude of ways.

Though Chilling, and disturbing, it’s also poignant, and especially today, of all today’s, passionately compelling…

“The subtlest change in New York is something people don’t speak much about but that is in everyone’s mind. The city, for the first time in its long history, is destructible. A single flight of planes no bigger than a wedge of geese can quickly end this island fantasy, burn the towers, crumble the bridges, turn the underground passages into lethal chambers, cremate the millions. The intimation of mortality is part of New York now: in the sounds of the jets overhead, in the black headlines of the latest edition.”
