There are two types of people in this world. Those with curly hair, and those with straight. The stick straight dream of a one day bundle of shiny, tightly wound curls, and the cursed curls get their hair straightened and blown out weekly at the salon. I’ve been the latter my entire life. As a young girl, with a head of bright red curls, I wore a t-shirt that read “No, I’m not Annie”. 30 years later, I still have them, and I try my best to keep them hidden. I’ve gone through varying degrees of obsession with blowouts, and only now, in an effort to save more money, have I managed to successfully curb my addiction. I’ve used all kinds of straighteners, chi, wet to dry. I’ve been trying to perfect a salon look at home for years to no avail. But the new Smooth Infusion Aveda straightening treatment is changing the way you will think about at home blowouts. And the way I spend my money on them.

Before: Crazy, frizzy curls.
I was very skeptical, as I am with most products, and having my own issues with thick, frizzy, curly hair. But after only one wash, my hair was already smoother and straighter, no joke. I usually don’t even use a blow dryer, but decided to try. Using it only a little, with the Aveda naturally straight product, I was able to get a much straighter look. It might not be full salon quality yet, but we’re getting there, and I’m learning how to actually do my own hair. I’ve relied on others for so long, it’s hard to change old habits. But Aveda is making me see the light. I’m staying on the straight and narrow, and keeping the operation in house from here on out.
