As a coffee addict, I find it my civil duty to taste each and every latte that comes out this holiday season. Although in my real life, I pride myself on my loyalty to friends and family, when it comes to coffee I find it hard to exercise latte loyalty. Of course, I always love Starbucks, and am a avid member of both Starbucks and Dunkin Doughnuts reward programs. But I also like all the little coffee shops around the city, not to mention the other huge chains that aren’t Starbucks and Dunkin, like Jacks, Stumptown, Think Coffee, and so many others. Right now is prime holiday coffee drinks time. Walking the streets of midtown Manhattan, browsing the holiday windows with holiday drinks in hand is a tradition for many. So this season, here are 5 holiday drinks to try for your next stroll around the island.
1. Praline Nut Latte at Starbucks. My go-to coffee holiday drink is usually a gingerbread latte and I typically don’t like change. But all that is different now that Starbucks has released their new holiday drink, the praline nut latte. But fair warning, these are super addictive.
2. Sugar Cookie Lattes at Dunkin Doughnuts. I know how bad they are; I don’t need to look at the calorie count to know that. And yet I can’t stop myself from walking in every day to get a medium sugar cookie latte, especially since they’re only $1.99 for the season.
3. McDonalds White Chocolate Latte. So delicious, it feels wrong, but tastes so right. And actually a little cheaper then a lot of other possible latte options.
4. Peppermint Lattes at Au Bon Pain. A hot, peppermint flavored latte just screams turtlenecks, ice-skating, and winter in NYC and right now they are under $2 at your local Au Bon Pain.
5. Jacks Mocha Latte.
