When Miz Mooz shoes invited me to spend the night doing yoga with them last week, I jumped at the chance to celebrate some of my favorite things; yoga and comfortably stylish shoes. I’m already an avid yogi, but my typical hour takes place in an overcrowded, excruciatingly hot, midtown studio. I thought getting out from behind crowded nyc doors would be a welcome change, but it proved to be much more. Sitting in Brooklyn Bridge Park in Dumbo, on my brand new orange yoga mat, courtesy of Miz Mooz, I took a deep breathe and took in the manhattan outline laid out in front of me. It was a magical hour, and we moved like dancers from one pose to the next, as the sun bounced off buildings, creating a fire filled light. In this one fleeting hour, as I watched my island from the other side, I realized that there is in fact, serenity in small moments.
When we were done basking in the afterglow of dusk, accomplishment, and our daily fitness due diligence, we rewarded ourselves with shoes. Miz Mooz, clearly knowing how women’s minds work, especially after an hour of yoga, had set up a styling section on the side complete with shoes and treats. I tried the gluten free Amaze Balls desserts and admired various Miz Mooz styles, ranging from booties, to heels, to my personal fall favorite, a moto inspired slouchy, flat boot. The brand’s signature look of vintage inspired leather, with detailed stitching was apparent throughout all the styles, as well as the comfort they offered. Even though fall is still several days away, I felt that right there in Dumbo, Brookyn, as the sun began to set, fall had already begun. And the evening was comfortably settling me right into the season.
