Saturday, March 29th 4 pm, Red Door Spa, 5th Avenue.
I’m standing in a plush, terry cloth robe with some kind of typical spa towel dress on underneath. I lie down and Nina comes in, to explain what she’s going to do to me. One hour, an added microdermabrasion service, an extra 90$, and majorly relaxed body later we were done.
The signature Red Door facial, their most popular one is worth every penny, and even though this time I fell victim to the wiles of the saleswoman at the heart of my trusted facialist, I was very glad I did. I emerged, relaxed and glowing, and waited for my company. Somewhere in another section of the 5th avenue salon, my man’s mother and sister were also getting beautified with mani and pedis.
While I waited, I was treated to a delicious cappuccino with biscoti cookie, and a complimentary makeup refresher. In five minutes flat she transformed me from fresh faced into naturally done.
Even though it was an awful day, pouring rain nonstop, inside we were kept cozy, and colorful flowers brightened the room and my mood.
Eventually we had to leave, before I was talked into any more expenditures, but I’ve already somehow talked myself into needing to go back for spa week.
