Last week I ventured to Tribeca to attend the opening of a sleek new Italian restaurant. Medici 21 was fun and festive, and I got to experience the new NYC restaurant with a 3 course dinner complete with appetizers, pre-dinner nibbles, bites and flights. Guests enjoyed bruschetta, caprese salad, roasted asparagus, and other treats, and then us diners were ushered upstairs. Sitting dim sum style with other guests, we’d be treated to a tasting dinner comprised of appetizers, including oysters, 3 courses, and their paired wines. A mix of whites, red, and a dessert. Yum! We mixed with an interesting crowd, which included the Brooklyn Borough president, who caused quite a stir. Meanwhile, we were kept busy stuffing our faces and enjoying the lively atmosphere.
Medici 21 Treated us to appetizers of oyster and salad, a 3 course dinner and fruit dessert, all paired with wine tastings.
We started with salad and an oyster spoonful. (this did not photograph as beautifully, no matter how hard I tried…. you know…)
I absolutely love anything puree, and was surprised to find out this was actually not cauliflower, but parsnip.
Wild boar with pappardelle and peas. So, okay I don’t eat wild boar. I don’t eat meat, really. But the pasta was fresh, and delicious.
